Prof. (Dr.) Apurva Desai
Prof. Desai is working as a Professor and Head in the Department of Computer Science, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University since academic year 1994. Prior to this he has gained another teaching experience of about two and half year at the under graduation level. He stood first in the University at the Post Graduation and earned his Ph.D. in the year 1997. He is Ph.D. and M.Phil supervisor for more than two decades.Many students have completed their research under his guidance. He has delivered numbers of lectures as a resource person in refresher and orientation courses, workshops, training programs, etc. and also delivered invited talks in national and international conferences. Dr. Desai has three books and about seventy research papers to his credit. He had designed University campus network and also extended his services to “Safe City Surat” a city-wide CCTV project owned by Surat Police. Dr. Desai served as dean of Computer science and Information Technology faculty and member of Academic Council of the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University for two terms and also serving as a Chairman, board of studies (Computer Science), member of Board of University Teachers (BUT), Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). He also has served the syndicate (executive council) of the veer Narmad South Gujarat Univerisyt, Incharge Dean College Development Council (CDC), Incharge of International Student cell etc. For a short period of time he was also appointed as incharge Vice Chancellor of the veer Narmad South Gujarat University. Dr. Desai has completed two funded research projects as a principal investigator and one project is in progress. He has visited Canada, Italy, and USA for attending various academic programs. His research area includes Optical Character Recognition, Image Processing, Computer Graphics, and Machine Learning.
