About Department

Name : Department of Fine Arts,Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat
Established in a year 2006, Program offered bachelor of fine arts ( BFA ) four year full time course, Three year of specialization in the field of applied arts, painting and sculpture.

Establishment of the department of fine art, started with six students. The Bachelor's Degree Program consists of four years of study that includes both theory and practical. The curriculum is designed to meet the demand for skilled personnel in fine arts and other creative fields. Classes emphasis the importance of visual literacy in the formation of the engaged, humanistic individual through interdisciplinary and multicultural approaches.

Faculty work closely with students to guide them in their own areas of inquiry, with a focus on undergraduate learning. Our curriculum complements and intersects with those of several University departments.

The multiple possibilities of the field of fine arts have been kept in mind while designing the courses of specialization of such as painting, sculpture and applied arts, it also involves such subsidiary subjects as print making, photography, calligraphy and pottery with a view to bring about all-round development of students, the department organizes group discussions, debates, slide shows, technical workshops by experienced faculties and renowned artist.

Screening of art movies, art festivals and study tours across India are also major components of curriculum.

The development of fine arts has the necessary infrastructure consisting of studios, library and computer lab. It provides a creative ambience for those committed to the world of imagination and creativity.

Bachelor of Fine Arts

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program is typically geared toward those who wish to done their artistic carrier and who want to become professionals in art and other creative field. A Fine arts bachelor’s degree program usually allows you to work closely with instructions, and much of your time is spent in art studios. You can earn a Bachelor of Fine arts in many creative areas, including applied art, painting, printmaking drawing, sculpture, photography, pottery are common BFA programs. BFA that trains you to perform professionally. There are Bachelor of Fine Arts programs for you, as well. Online fine arts Bachelor’s degree programs aren’t offered, because they require you to spend so much time practicing your art and working closely with instructors.

The core objective of the BFA programme is to prepare the students for productive career as Visual Artist and in Visual Arts industry. The program attempts to provide an outstanding environment of critical thinking and research of cultural heritage as well as on contemporary development within the discipline.

  • PO1: Developing Critical and Creative Skills.-Program attempts to train students to develop the lens of perceiving the world around and life through nuanced observational, analytical, critical and creative skills.
  • PO2: Investing in Individualism- The program invest through personal attention to develop individual students' language in making art concerning their interests, concerns and inquiries through regular conversations and critiques.
  • PO3: Critical Thinking Development-The program encourages students in regular reading and discussion sessions so as to ingrain criticality towards various artistic forms and functions.

Eligibility for Admission

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination under any stream. Equivalent Examination includes any Diploma or ITI (NCVT/GCVT Certificate) for which recognized board has issued certificate of equivalence certifying equivalence with higher secondary certificate.

Maintains an inclusive admission policy for all persons who meet basic requirements for admission & instruction and who want to obtain higher learning in a wide spectrum of disciplines in art. Application are processed through the GCAS state government admission portal.

Entrance requirements

  •   Applicant is required to appear the Fine Arts entrance test.
  •   Weightage for admission-70% of entrance test & 30% of std. xii

Reservation Policy

      The information regarding reserved seats in different categories are as following. If a student wishes to take advantage of the reserved seats, they must present a caste certificate obtained from a competent officer. The student has to make sure that the cast certificate or the certificate for a person belonging to economically backward class is valid and not expired, as the validity of such certificates is only three economical years.

Eligibility for Admission

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination under any stream. Equivalent Examination includes any Diploma or ITI (NCVT/GCVT Certificate) for which recognized board has issued certificate of equivalence certifying equivalence with higher secondary certificate.

Maintains an inclusive admission policy for all persons who meet basic requirements for admission & instruction and who want to obtain higher learning in a wide spectrum of disciplines in art. Application are processed through the GCAS state government admission portal.

Entrance requirements

  •   Applicant is required to appear the Fine Arts entrance test.
  •   Weightage for admission-70% of entrance test & 30% of std. xii

Reservation Policy

      The information regarding reserved seats in different categories are as following. If a student wishes to take advantage of the reserved seats, they must present a caste certificate obtained from a competent officer. The student has to make sure that the cast certificate or the certificate for a person belonging to economically backward class is valid and not expired, as the validity of such certificates is only three economical years.
